Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) Engineer to support the FEMA program at Mount Weather, VA, with on-site duties in Bluemont, VA. The role focuses on COMSEC measures to protect sensitive data and key material during modernization initiatives.

The engineer will manage KMI systems, perform audits, train personnel, and upgrade cryptographic hardware/software while ensuring compliance with DHS and NSA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• U.S. citizen with an active Top Secret clearance and SCI eligibility, or ability to obtain SCI access; DHS EOD clearance as a prerequisite.
• Experience supporting fielding, operation, and maintenance of KMI and cryptographic equipment.
• Extensive COMSEC and KMI experience with strong policy compliance.
• Knowledge of CARDS, KMI, and DIAS accounting systems.
• Experience with SMART-T operations within KMI.
• SKL operations proficiency; loading keys and upgrading equipment.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of secure networks and COMSEC account management.
• Experience training on COMSEC systems and cryptographic equipment.

Responsibilities

• Manage and operate DHS Central Office of Record systems.
• Develop and implement plans, policies, procedures for DHS needs.
• Conduct in-depth field audits of COMSEC accounts per policy.
• Assist with COR COMSEC accounts and training.
• Ensure secure handling of cryptographic assets from CCI to Top Secret.
• Generate and distribute cryptographic keys via the KMI platform nationwide.
• Provide scheduled and ad hoc training on keying and maintenance.
• Assist with COMSEC accounting functions at the Central Office of Record.
• Evaluate and upgrade cryptographic hardware and software.
• Perform destruction and demilitarization of COMSEC materials.
• Support fielding of new/decertified COMSEC equipment.
• Support EKMS, KMI, and NSA Crypto modernization initiatives.
