Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) Engineer to support the FEMA program at Mount Weather, VA. This on-site role focuses on COMSEC measures to protect communications and manage cryptographic assets. Location is on-site in Bluemont, VA.

You will operate the KMI system, manage keying material, train staff, and ensure compliance with CARDS, DIAS, and DIAS standards. A TS clearance with SCI eligibility is required, along with KMI certifications and DHS approvals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years experience, or Associates with 7, or HS diploma with 9 years.
• U.S. citizen with TS clearance and SCI eligibility, or ability to obtain DHS EOD.
• Experience supporting KMI and cryptographic equipment modernization.
• Extensive COMSEC and KMI experience.
• Knowledge of CARDS, KMI, and DIAS systems.
• Experience with SMART-T operations within KMI.
• Loading keys on Viper/Iridium/KG devices; upgrades.
• Proficient in SKL operations.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of secure networks and COMSEC accounts.
• Ability to train and support COMSEC accounting systems.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities independently.
• Demonstrated accuracy and timely task completion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage and operate the DHS Central Office of Record.
• Develop and implement plans, policies, and procedures to meet program needs.
• Conduct in-depth field audits of COMSEC accounts.
• Assist visits of COR COMSEC accounts.
• Ensure proper accounting, storage, distribution, and issuance of cryptographic assets.
• Generate and distribute cryptographic keying material using the KMI platform.
• Provide training on keying, operation, and maintenance of COMSEC equipment.
• Assist with COMSEC accounting functions.
• Perform cryptographic equipment software/hardware evaluations and upgrades.
• Perform destruction and demilitarization of COMSEC materials.
• Provide fielding and training support for new/decertified COMSEC equipment.
• Support EKMS, KMI, and NSA Crypto Modernization Initiatives.
