Job Overview -At Woodland Tools, we don’t wait for opportunities—we go out and build them. We’re looking for aKey Account Managerto take ownership of our strategic retail partnerships, including Ace, Do It Best, Orgill, and others. In this role, you won’t just manage accounts—you’ll drive category growth, secure new placements, and lead retail execution from sell-in to sell-through.

You’ll need to be a highly motivated self-starter. Someone who takes initiative, pushes through challenges, and is laser-focused on driving results. Key Responsibilities:

Sales Management and Growth

  • Own the full sales lifecycle for assigned national and regional accounts, from strategic planning to sell-through execution
  • Develop and execute comprehensive sales and marketing strategies for assigned accounts that balance company and retailer goals
  • Build and deliver effective presentations tailored to Woodland and retailer objectives including but not limited to Product Line Reviews, Industry Trends, Market Share and Product Knowledge Clinics
  • Identify and capitalize on whitespace opportunities to expand assortments, secure new placements, and increase market share
  • Manage and track account-specific forecasts, promotional calendars, and quarterly sales targets, ensuring alignment with company growth goals
  • Manage and motivate independent sales reps across territories, ensuring Woodland Tools remains top-of-mind and consistently represented in the field

Retailer Support and Relationship Management

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with buyers, planners, and merchandising teams across key retail partners
  • Serve as the primary point of contact, leading all line reviews, seasonal presentations, and joint business planning discussions
  • Use fact-based selling to support the sell-in and sell-through of Woodland products to increase retailer sales and productivity
  • Travel across the U.S. to attend trade shows, customer meetings, and key industry events to strengthen relationships and uncover new opportunities

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with supply chain, product development, and finance to align on inventory needs, cost targets, and demand planning
  • Translate retailer feedback into actionable insights for internal teams to guide product improvements and innovation roadmap
  • Manage operational procedures including new item set up and helping to maintain customer files
  • Ensure seamless communication across departments to deliver best-in-class customer service and execution
  • Provide direct P&L input for the business backed by data driven insights

Position Requirements:

  • BA in Marketing, Business or Sales Management
  • 3-5 years’ experience in sales or account management. Experience in consumer goods preferred
  • Experience within the CO-OP Hardware channel, including Do-It-Best, Ace, True-Value and Orgill as well as other accounts (Blain’s, Mill’s, Etc.)
  • Deep knowledge of the sales process and using fact-based selling to develop retail strategies
  • Entrepreneurial spirit with the desire to hunt for new opportunities and expand accounts
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills including the ability to present to retail buyers, management, distributors and dealers
  • Proficient in MS office software
  • Ability to work extended hours and to travel 25%-30% of the year
  • Based in Madison, WI with the ability to work in-office when not traveling for sales
