Job summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated Kettle Program Coordinator in a on-site role to recruit and manage bell ringing staff and volunteers across multiple locations. This position drives program success through effective scheduling, training, and compliance with policies.

You will maintain records for kettle income, support special events, and engage with community leaders to meet local needs. A valid driver’s license is required to operate vehicles and transport kettles and supplies.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED; one year experience with kettle fundraising preferred.
  • Valid State Driver's License is required.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers and staff is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, screen and select bell ringing staff and volunteers to ensure adequate site coverage.
  • Plan, schedule, and assign work; instruct staff and volunteers and verify accuracy and compliance with Salvation Army policies.
  • Maintain contact with staff and volunteers; address questions and concerns and provide recognition.
  • Prepare and maintain records and databases for daily kettle income; generate status reports.
  • Coordinate special events; prepare plaques and certificates of recognition and maintain event records.
  • Meet with community leaders to discuss Salvation Army needs.
  • Drive Salvation Army vehicle to kettle locations and workers; transport kettles and supplies.
  • Assist with counting, recording and depositing kettle funds.

Job description

This position is responsible for:Recruiting, training, coordinating, and monitoring the work of employees and volunteer bell ringers ensuring ample staff to meet location needs; prepares records and reports regarding the same.Key Responsibilities:Interviews, recruits, screens and selection of bell ringing staff and volunteers ensuring all sites are covered effectively.Plans, schedules, and assigns work of staff and volunteers; instructs in proper methods and procedures; checks and approves work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy and completeness as well as compliance with Salvation Army policies and proceduresMaintains contact with staff and volunteers throughout their service; answers questions, concerns or problems; recognizes workers through correspondence by mail, in person or by phone.Prepares and maintains up-to-date records and databases for daily kettle income information; prepares reports regarding the status of the kettle program; provides staff and volunteers with documentation of the hours worked.Plans, coordinates, and prepares special events; prepares plaques and certificates of recognition; prepares and maintains special event records for future reference.Meets with community leaders and organizations and discuss Salvation Army needs.Drives Salvation Army vehicle(s) to deliver and collect kettles and supplies to kettle locations and workers.Assists with counting, recording and depositing of kettle fundsPhysical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking. Duties include extensive driving to and from kettle locations 50-75% of work time. Knowledge of volunteer recruitment methods and practices.• Ability to follow instructions and work with limited supervision.• Ability to prepare accurate and complete records and reports.• Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with volunteers and staff.• Ability to lead, motivate, and evaluate the work of volunteers and staff.• Ability to maintain volunteer and financial database.Education and Experience:High School or G.E.D. andOne year experience working with kettle fund raising programs preferred orAny equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilitiesCertifications:Valid State Driver’s LicenseEqual Opportunity Employer: Veterans | Disabled
