Job summary

RTX in Cedar Rapids is offering an internship/co-op role focused on KC-135 systems engineering. You will learn and apply requirements capture, allocation, verification, and validation within a collaborative team environment.

The role requires active enrollment in a Bachelor's or advanced degree program and onsite presence for test events. Interns gain exposure to avionics testing, data buses, and Agile-style work in a defense context.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Advanced degree in an applicable discipline and actively enrolled through completion of the internship / co-op session.
• Ability to be onsite in Cedar Rapids for test events and test environment updates.
• Experience with systems engineering processes and avionics testing is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Understand KC-135 systems engineering processes.
• Capture, define, allocate, verify and validate system requirements.
• Perform and support system tests in a lab environment in both informal and formal test events.
• Assist in the collaboration of cross-functional teams to design and implement new KC-135 features.

What You Will Do:

• Understand KC-135 systems engineering processes

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience with various engineering tools including TNT, DOORS/JAMA, JIRA, PREP, Microsoft, SVN and others is desired
• Experience (military or civil aircraft) in avionics systems, specifically testing and troubleshooting
• Working knowledge / understanding of data buses and protocols (Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553B, and ARINC-429)
• Experience in a Scaled Agile environment using Jira tracking
