Job summary

RTX in Cedar Rapids, IA is offering an internship/co-op in aerospace software engineering. You will join a team of Systems and Software engineers to design, develop, and test flight management software integrated into military helicopters and planes.

We seek students pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Engineering who are proficient in C, C++, ADA, or Python, and who demonstrate leadership, communication, and collaboration skills in a dynamic, results‑driven environment.

What You Will Do

Work within a team of Systems and Software engineers to design, develop, and test software features for flight management systems that are integrated into military helicopters and planes. Integrate soft skills (leadership, communication, coordination, proactiveness) into a dynamic environment that provides quality and timely products to internal and external customers.

Qualifications You Must Have

Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Engineering and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co‑op session. Experience with C, C++, ADA, and/or Python.

Qualifications We Prefer

Ability to draft System and/or Software Requirements Pilot/Avionics Experience (i.e. Private Pilot, Aircraft Maintenance, DO-178 Certification).

Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
