SuperAnnotate AI, Inc. subsidiary SME Careers seeks a Kannada Language Specialist (SME) to review AI-generated Kannada content and craft high-quality reference content.

You will assess accuracy, fluency, grammar, tone, and cultural appropriateness, provide precise feedback, and write rewrites and model answers demonstrating best Kannada writing practices. Selection includes AI interview, domain task, and recruiter interview.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native Kannada proficiency (reading and writing).
• Strong professional English proficiency (C1) to follow guidelines and provide feedback in English.
• 3+ years in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education, or language-focused work.
• Deep understanding of Kannada grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style; explain issues and fixes.

Responsabilités

• Review and quality-check translations of English science questions (ARC) in Kannada, comparing original translation and AI-corrected version to English source for accuracy.
• Review question and answer choices, select outcome (accept original, accept AI correction, edit translation, or elevate), and provide brief review comments.

About This Role

Interview language: English

In this hourly, remote contractor role, you will work as a Kannada Language Specialist (SME) to review AI-generated Kannada content and/or create high-quality Kannada reference content, evaluating language quality and step-by-step reasoning while providing precise written feedback. You will assess outputs for accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, and adherence to the prompt; identify errors in meaning, mistranslation, register (formal vs informal), ambiguity, and logical consistency; fact-check claims when needed; write high-quality rewrites and model answers that demonstrate best practices in Kannada writing; and rate and compare multiple AI responses based on correctness and overall quality.

This role is with SME Careers, a fast-growing AI Data Services company and subsidiary of SuperAnnotate, delivering training data for many of the world’s largest AI companies and foundation-model labs. Your Kannada expertise directly helps improve the world’s premier AI models by making their Kannada language output more natural, reliable, culturally accurate, and clearly written.

Selection process involves an AI interview, a domain-specific task, and an interview with a recruiter.

Your profile

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Linguistics, Kannada/English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).


• Native or near-native Kannada proficiency (reading and writing required).


• Strong professional proficiency in English (minimum C1) to follow guidelines and provide detailed feedback in English.


• 3+ years of professional experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education, or related language-focused work.


• Deep understanding of Kannada grammar, spelling conventions, punctuation, and style - able to explain why something is wrong and how to fix it.


• Comfortable handling multiple registers (formal/informal), regional variation (e.g., Bengaluru/standard usage vs regional dialect influence), and audience adaptation (India vs diaspora).


• High attention to detail when spotting subtle meaning shifts, hallucinated claims, or culturally awkward phrasing.


• Reliable, self-directed, and able to deliver consistent quality in an hourly, remote contractor workflow across time zones.


• Prior experience with AI data training/annotation, translation QA, editorial QA, or rubric-based evaluation is strongly preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Task Description: Review and quality-check existing translations of English science benchmark questions (ARC) in your target language. For each item, you’ll compare the original translation and an AI-proposed correction against the English source, focusing strictly on accuracy and faithfulness rather than stylistic improvement .


• You’ll review the question and answer choices only , select the appropriate outcome (accept the original, accept the AI correction, edit the final translation, or elevate), and provide a brief review comment. The goal is to preserve the source exactly - including its meaning, difficulty, answer structure, scientific terminology, and protected elements - while following the provided core and language-specific guidelines.
