Job summary

Somerville Public Schools in Somerville, MA seeks an Instructional Coach to partner with educators and district teams to elevate teaching and learning across K-8. You will model, observe, and support best practices, aligning classroom work with the district’s priorities and equity goals.

As a member of the Instructional Leadership Team, you will contribute to professional learning, curriculum alignment, and data-informed planning, helping all students access rigorous, standards-aligned learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid DESE license in Elementary 1-6.
• Valid DESE license in ESL PreK-6 or Moderate Disabilities PreK-8.
• Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching with demonstrated gains.
• Experience in instructional coaching or curriculum development preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and facilitate ongoing coaching cycles with teachers including goal-setting, co-planning, modeling, observation, and feedback.
• Build trusting, growth-oriented relationships with teachers for reflective practice and improvement.
• Provide coaching and collaborative planning support with culturally responsive practices for diverse learners.
• Use student data, observations, and teacher input to tailor coaching.
• Differentiate coaching to meet needs of novice and veteran educators.
• Collaborate with the principal on instructional priorities and initiatives.
