Job summary

NEXT WAVE ALTERNATIVE SCHOOL in Somerville, MA seeks an Instructional Coach to partner with educators and district teams to improve teaching quality across K-8. You will lead coaching cycles, analyze data, and support curriculum alignment to ensure equitable, standards-aligned learning experiences.

The role requires a strong background in instructional coaching, DESE licensure, and a track record of improving student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Education or related field preferred.
• Valid DESE educator license in Elementary 1-6 required.
• Valid DESE license in ESL PreK-6 or Moderate Disabilities PreK-8 required.
• Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience with demonstrated student achievement gains.
• Experience in instructional coaching, teacher leadership, or curriculum development preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and facilitate ongoing coaching cycles with teachers, including goal-setting, co-planning, modeling, observation, and feedback.
• Build trusting relationships with teachers to support reflective practice and continuous improvement.
• Provide coaching and collaborative planning support to teachers, promoting equitable instructional practices for diverse learners.
• Use data, observations, and input to tailor coaching support and inform instruction.
• Differentiate coaching to meet needs of novice and veteran educators.
• Collaborate with principal to plan and implement instructional priorities through coaching.
• Be an active ILT member and participate in leadership meetings to analyze data and set actions.
• Support development of the school’s instructional vision and improvement plan.
