Job summary

ReNEW Schools is seeking a Literacy Instructional Assistant to support literacy development across grades K-6. You will work closely with literacy teachers and coaches to provide high-quality small-group instruction and targeted interventions, contributing to reading achievement and a positive school culture.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
  • Prior experience with elementary-aged students preferred.
  • Strong reading, writing and communication skills required.
  • Understanding of literacy development and willingness to learn intervention strategies.
  • Ability to implement lessons, intervention plans and guided practice.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver small-group literacy instruction and interventions under guidance of literacy teachers.
  • Support instruction focusing on foundational reading skills, comprehension, vocabulary, fluency and writing.
  • Reinforce skills through guided practice and additional opportunities.
  • Collaborate with literacy and classroom teachers to support literacy growth.
  • Prepare instructional materials and data collection tools.
  • Maintain a productive learning environment and monitor student progress.
