Job summary

Manhattan Charter School for the Curious Minds, located on the Lower East Side of New York City, seeks a Physical Education (PE) / ICT Teacher for grades K–5. You will develop engaging PE lessons promoting fitness, teamwork, and healthy habits while supporting ICT collaboration to ensure inclusive access to instruction.

The ideal candidate has a PE background, experience with diverse learners, and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet varied needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field.
• Teaching certification/license in Physical Education preferred.
• Experience teaching PE at elementary or K–12 level.
• Knowledge of fitness, sports, movement and wellness practices.
• Ability to adapt and differentiate instruction for diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver developmentally appropriate PE lessons for grades K–5.
• Teach fundamentals of sports, movement activities, fitness, teamwork, and wellness.
• Assess progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Organize and supervise extracurricular sports and events.
• Collaborate with colleagues to integrate PE with other subjects and initiatives.
• Establish routines to promote engagement and positive behavior.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive environment and proper equipment usage.
• ICT: collaborate with co-teachers to plan, deliver, and assess instruction.
