Job summary

Wake County Public School System is seeking an Instructional Assistant to support teachers and students across elementary, middle, or high school levels. The IA provides instructional and administrative help, reinforces skills, and helps create a safe, engaging learning environment.

The role requires a high school diploma, some coursework or experience in childhood education, cooperation with staff, and the ability to use Microsoft Office and Google Apps.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Six semester hours in childhood education or two years of childhood setting experience.
• CPI certification may be required depending on school.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office and Google Apps.

Responsibilities

• Provides assistance with instructional activities and helps maintain a safe, caring environment.
• Assists teachers in planning, organizing, evaluating activities, and preparing materials.
• Works with individual students or groups in different classrooms as needed.
• Participates in district staff development and ongoing professional growth.
• Maintains a positive disposition and calm judgment when dealing with students.
• May perform vision and hearing screenings and enter results into the student information system.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
