Job summary

Grand Island Public Schools is seeking Apprentice Elementary Teachers who will observe best practices, co-teach with Master Teachers, and provide in-house substitute coverage. They will support tutoring, grading, and small group instruction, with opportunities to lead a class under supervision.

During the program, apprentices will develop teaching skills, observe Master Teachers, implement curricula, design assessments, and participate in grade-level teams and school events.

Responsibilities

• Provide substitute teaching coverage within the school.
• Periodically plan and deliver instruction.
• Develop teaching skills toward a potential full-time position at the school.
• Observe and work with Master Teachers to improve instructional techniques.
• Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards.
• Design and implement assessments to measure progress.
• Use data to refine curriculum and inform instruction.
• Participate in curriculum development, professional development, and grade-level activities.
• Supervise students during transitions, meals, and afterschool.
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
