Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain is seeking a Tutor for 1st–5th grade students to support homework, math and literacy during after-school hours. You will help prepare review materials and implement engaging activities under the Unit Director's guidance.

The role requires developing lesson plans, tracking attendance, and coordinating with staff. A commitment to safe, supportive youth development is essential.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s Degree or greater preferred; for some clubs, certified teachers required.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of relevant work or volunteer experience with youth.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing individualized lesson plans for K–5 Club members.
• Tutor assigned students 4 times per week for 3 hours per day.
• Complete reports and documentation for academic data.
• Support after-school literacy games and activities.
• Provide guidance to youth in educational programs.
• Create a safe, positive environment for development.
• Build positive relationships with youth, volunteers, parents, schools, and community.
• Track daily attendance and other program administrative duties.
• Participate in events coordinated by the Club.
• Assist with clean up and organization; travel between locations as needed.
