Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain seeks an enthusiastic tutor to support 1st–5th grade students with homework and targeted literacy and math activities during after-school hours. You will develop lessons, track progress, and help create engaging learning experiences across multiple club sites.

Qualifications

• Education required: Associate’s Degree or higher; teachers may be certified.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work or volunteer experience with youth.
• Strong verbal and written communication, facilitation and leadership skills.
• Ability to engage diverse youth and maintain a safe, productive environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop individualized lesson plans for assigned students.
• Tutor 4 times per week, 3 hours per day, supporting math and literacy.
• Complete reports and documentation for academic data tracking.
• Lead engaging after-school literacy games and activities.
• Provide guidance to youth in educational programs.
• Create a safe, positive environment for children's development.
• Build relationships with youth, volunteers, parents, schools and community.
• Track daily attendance and perform program administrative duties.
• Attend programs, projects and special events coordinated by the club.
• Assist with cleanup and organization of program areas.
• Travel between different locations as needed.
