Job summary

Pocahontas Elementary School in Pocahontas, Arkansas is seeking a Self-Contained Special Education Teacher for Kindergarten through 3rd grade. The role reports to the Building Principal and/or Special Education Director and serves students with disabilities in a self-contained setting.

You will develop individualized instruction based on IEPs, monitor progress with data, maintain required records, and collaborate with general education staff, families, and related service providers.

Qualifications

• Requires Arkansas Special Education K-12 license or eligibility.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.

Responsibilities

• Provide specially designed instruction based on individual student IEPs and needs.
• Use data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction.
• Create a structured, positive, and supportive classroom environment.
• Implement IEP accommodations, modifications, goals, and behavior supports.
• Promote student independence, communication, self-regulation, and social development.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators, and families.
• Provide guidance and direction to classroom paraprofessionals.
• Maintain accurate IEP documentation, progress monitoring, and other required records.
