Position: Self-Contained Special Education Teacher K–3
Reports To: Building Principal and/or Special Education Director

Position Summary

The K–3 Self-Contained Special Education Teacher provides specialized instruction and educational programming for students with disabilities in a self-contained setting. The teacher is responsible for developing and implementing individualized, developmentally appropriate instruction based on each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), present levels of performance, academic and functional needs, and individual strengths. The teacher creates a structured, supportive, and engaging classroom environment that promotes academic growth, communication, independence, social-emotional development, positive behavior, and participation in the school community. The teacher works collaboratively with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, administrators, families, and other members of the student's educational team.
