Job summary

Colorado Youth for a Change is seeking a K-3 Reading Tutor as part of the Colorado Reading Corps AmeriCorps program. The position places you at a Colorado elementary school to provide script-guided, evidence-based reading practice for kindergartners through third graders.

You will conduct assessments, maintain progress records, and collaborate with coaches to ensure students read at grade level. Term runs Oct 19, 2026–May 28, 2027 with full-time hours.

Qualifications

• Interest in education and helping children develop early literacy skills.
• Commitment to community service and service-based learning.
• Proven planning and time-management skills for scheduling daily tutoring sessions.

Responsibilities

• Identify students eligible for Reading Corps tutoring based on assessments.
• Conduct one-on-one or small-group tutoring using scripted literacy strategies with fidelity.
• Develop weekly tutoring schedules to maximize student reach and provide daily 20-minute sessions.
• Assess student progress with periodic benchmarks and maintain accurate progress records.
• Collaborate with coaches, teachers, and Reading Corps staff; participate in coaching and professional development.
• Engage families in program activities and communicate regularly on progress.
