Job summary

Alpha School is hiring a Youth Development Coach to guide K-3 students through app-based literacy activities, diagnose gaps, and lead short sessions with small groups. You will help students reach daily goals and maintain momentum through structured routines.

The role emphasizes hands-on coaching, reading instruction, and continuous progress tracking on campus, with relocation support provided for candidates joining from other areas.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years working directly with children ages 4-9 in relevant settings.
• At least 2 years teaching reading in grades K-3 within the last 5 years.
• Completed structured-literacy training (LOE, IMSE, Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, Fundations, UFLI, CERI, Neuhaus, SIPPS, Really Great Reading) or a master’s in reading.
• Bachelor’s degree required; teaching certificate not required.
• Willing to work on-site at a campus; relocation support provided.

Responsibilities

• Get every K-3 student to daily learning goals and close reading gaps.
• Lead app-based core learning sessions with 2–4 students and diagnose gaps.
• Stay with students through lunch and recess, guiding through challenges with a plan.
• Drive weekly app goals using school currency, leaderboards, and gamification.
