Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in Charlotte, NC seeks a K-3 teacher assistant to support instruction under a teacher's supervision. You will assist students individually or in small groups, supervise in classrooms and on field trips, and help record progress.

Minimum education includes an Associate's Degree or 48 college hours, or workkeys tests, plus 2+ years working with elementary age children. Term is 9 months.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree OR two years of higher education equivalent to 48 credit hours OR ability to pass a formal assessment (Workkeys) OR NC DOL Apprenticeship Program OR NC ATA Professional Development Plan.
• Associate's Degree with a concentration in Education.
• 2+ years working with elementary age children.

Responsibilities

• Assist children individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums or on field trips.
• Enforce administration policies and rules governing students.
• Discuss assigned duties with teachers to coordinate instructional efforts.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment to prevent injuries and damage.
• Observe students' performance and record progress data.
