Job summary

Fort Scott USD 234 is seeking a qualified Director of Technology to provide leadership across the district's technology systems, cybersecurity, devices, and support services. The role collaborates with administrators, instructional staff, and external partners to ensure reliable and secure technology for education and operations.

The position is 12-month, full-time with a salary range of $72,000–$127,861 and a district benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, educational technology, business, or related field preferred; equivalent education/experience may be considered.
• Experience managing networks, technology infrastructure, devices, cybersecurity, and technical support operations.
• Experience supervising employees and coordinating technology projects.
• Experience in a K–12 educational environment is preferred.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and customer-service skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while responding effectively to urgent technology needs.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity practices, network administration, device management, cloud-based systems, and technology lifecycle planning.
• Ability to work with administrators, teachers, staff, vendors, and community partners.

Responsibilities

• Oversee reliable, secure, and efficient district networks, internet connectivity, servers, telecommunications, and infrastructure.
• Manage district technology assets, including Chromebooks, devices, peripherals, and lifecycle planning.
• Supervise and coordinate district technology support services and help desk operations.
• Develop and maintain cybersecurity practices, access controls, backups, filtering, monitoring, and data protection.
• Assist with short- and long-term technology planning, budgeting, and procurement.
