Job summary

Gestalt Community Schools in Kentucky is seeking teacher assistants for the 2023-2024 school year to support elementary, middle or high school students. Assist teachers with classroom tasks, monitor attendance, and help maintain a safe, positive learning environment for scholars.

The ideal candidate has at least one year of experience with children, a high school diploma plus 48 college credits, and strong communication, record-keeping and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• At least one year of experience working with/handling children.
• Minimum high school diploma; 48 college credit hours required.
• Ability to maintain accurate records.
• Passion for Gestalt's mission and youth development.
• Reliable, organized and punctual.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate solutions.
• Ability to work well with staff and school partners.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; proficient in Excel, Outlook, Word.
• Articulate outcomes and provide necessary resources.
• Professional conduct serving as a role model.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers with copying, observation, attendance, and admin tasks.
• Coordinates program activities (games, art, music, homework) to meet children’s needs.
• Evaluates situations for appropriate action and directs to staff.
• Interacts with scholars to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
• Maintains enrollment, sign-in/out logs, invoices, and receipts.
• Participates in staff meetings to share information and improve skills.
• Maintains a safe environment for children.
• Other duties as assigned.
