Job summary

Gestalt Community Schools is seeking teacher assistants for the 2023-2024 school year to support elementary, middle, or high school learners. You will assist teachers, coordinate activities, and maintain records while ensuring a safe and positive classroom environment.

The role emphasizes reliable attendance, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a school setting. Training and collaboration with staff are provided.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience working with or managing children.
• High school diploma plus 48 college credits.
• Ability to maintain accurate records.
• Passion for Gestalt's mission and youth development.
• Reliable, organized and punctual.
• Ability to resolve conflicts and negotiate solutions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and school partners.
• Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills; proficient in Excel, Outlook, Word.
• Able to clearly articulate outcomes and provide necessary resources to meet objectives.
• Professional conduct that serves as a positive role model.

Responsibilities

• Assists teachers with assignments, copying, attendance, and administrative tasks.
• Coordinates program activities (games, art, music, homework) to meet students' needs.
• Evaluates situations for appropriate action; directs to proper personnel.
• Interacts with students during activities to ensure a safe, positive learning environment.
• Maintains records and files (enrollment, sign-in/out, invoices) for documentation.
• Participates in meetings to share information and develop skills.
• Maintains a safe environment for children.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
