Job summary

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) seeks a licensed therapist to join in-district classrooms and standalone schools serving K-12 students with special and alternative education needs.

You will provide individual or group counseling aligned with IEP/BIP goals and collaborate with school teams to support student success. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you’ll analyze data, develop behavior plans, and implement PBIS-based strategies within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Professional licensure required (LPC/LCPC, LCSW/LMSW, LMFT/LMHC).
• Master’s degree in social work or related field and relevant counseling experience.
• 2 years of experience in school, special education, or behavior health setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with a diverse group of students from varying backgrounds.
• Provide individual, group, or push-in counseling to students per IEP or BIP.
• Collaborate on creating IEPs including social-emotional goals and meeting participation.
• Complete social-emotional and behavior assessments, analyze data, and develop behavior plans.
• Implement behavior management strategies and de-escalation techniques to ensure safety.
• Support social-emotional learning through curricula and targeted interventions.
• Provide in-service training with other teams and collaborate with external partners.
• Maintain student files per regulatory requirements.

Education

Master’s degree in social work, human services, or related field (mental health, psychology, counseling)

2 years of experience working with children and adolescents in a school, special education, or behavior health setting
