Job summary

Wayside Schools is a public charter network serving Pre-K3 through 12th grade in Austin. The IT Manager leads technology services across all campuses, providing strategic direction and hands-on support to ensure secure, reliable systems that support teaching, learning and operations.

The role supervises the IT Support Specialist, responds to emergencies, and partners with school leadership on technology initiatives and purchasing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
• 3+ years of progressively responsible IT experience including network, systems, hardware, software, and user support.
• Experience managing IT operations across multiple locations; K-12 experience preferred.
• Ability to troubleshoot, install, configure, maintain, and repair hardware, software, networks, and related systems.
• Experience leading IT projects, managing vendors, and supervising IT staff.
• Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, cybersecurity, data protection, cloud systems, hardware and software.

Responsibilities

• Develop and document an ongoing vision and strategy for technology infrastructure.
• Lead day-to-day technology operations and support across all campuses.
• Provide hands-ons network administration, troubleshooting, installation, repair, and upgrades.
• Deliver timely technical support to staff and campuses for classroom and admin tech needs.
• Manage vendor relationships and technology purchasing; oversee contracts.
• Oversee backup, disaster recovery, and security practices across the organization.
• Travel between campuses to provide support and manage projects.
