Job summary

KIPP Kansas City Public Schools seeks a Senior Manager of Information Technology to lead the district’s technology vision, security, and operations. You will oversee network engineering, systems administration, cybersecurity, help desk support, and hardware deployment to empower students, teachers, and staff.

The role reports to the Managing Director of Operations and collaborates with the CSuite, school leaders, and educators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 5–7 years of progressive IT experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Preferred: Experience in K-12 public schools or higher education.

Responsibilities

• Oversee design, implementation, maintenance, and scalability of local and wide area networks, Wi-Fi, and servers.
• Manage hybrid infrastructure, including IAM and SSO for active users.
• Supervise lifecycle management of all district-issued hardware (Chromebooks, iPads, laptops) and staff workstations.
• Architect and enforce district cybersecurity posture; implement firewalls, endpoint protection, and MFA.
• Ensure compliance with FERPA, COPPA, and CIPA; test DR/BC plans and immutable backups.
• Establish KPIs/SLAs for IT Help Desk and foster a customer-service culture.
• Develop and manage IT budgets; optimize E-Rate funding; negotiate vendor contracts.
• Communicate technology plans and protocols to stakeholders; gather usage and performance data.
