Job summary

Gersh Autism is seeking a full‑time Maintenance staff member in Queens, NY, to clean and secure the school building, perform routine maintenance, and support safety protocols for students aged 5–21. The role requires basic repair skills, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.

The position is Monday–Friday, 11:00am–5:00pm, with occasional after-hours support and weather-related duties.

Qualifications

• Background check required.
• Minimum one-year experience cleaning/custodial/janitorial.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Support the cleaning and maintenance of the building.
• Complete daily cleaning check lists and deep cleaning schedules.
• Notify managers concerning major repairs or additions to building systems.
• Secure the building daily by turning off lights and performing a walkthrough to ensure doors and windows are secured.
• Follow procedures for chemical cleaners and power equipment to protect floors and fixtures.
• Perform basic electrical, plumbing and handyman repairs as needed.
