Job summary

Gersh Autism seeks a full-time Maintenance worker in Queens, NY to support cleaning and building upkeep, ensure safe environments, and help set up facilities for events and activities.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of custodial experience; a valid driver’s license is preferred. Work hours are 11:00am–5:00pm, Monday–Friday, with occasional before/after school shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum one year of cleaning/custodial/janitorial experience.

Responsibilities

• Support cleaning and maintenance of the building.
• Complete daily cleaning check lists and deep cleaning schedules.
• Notify managers about major repairs or building system needs.
• Secure the building by closing windows and doors at shift end.
• Handle basic electrical, plumbing and minor repairs.
• Monitor inventory of maintenance supplies and requisition as needed.
• Coordinate moves of furniture and equipment for events or class changes.
• Follow safety standards and report hazards to management.
• Work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Snow removal and weather-related safety duties as required.
• Assist event setup and breakdown as needed.
