Qualifications
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field from an accredited college or university (Preferred)
- Valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certification (ZE, ZC, ZG) or meet Michigan teaching permit requirements through enrollment in a teacher certification program leading to a Michigan elementary teaching certificate (Preferred)
- Knowledge of language acquisition and reading strategies for the Multilingual Learner population
- Experience in an elementary and/or middle school setting (Preferred)
Job Description
- Provide specialized, targeted instruction to Multilingual Learner students in collaboration with the district lead teacher
- Focus on specific areas of need such as vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and speaking skills through small group or individual interventions
- Evaluate students’ academic and social growth and collaborate with general education teachers to ensure the Multilingual Learner students’ progress within the mainstream classroom
- Acknowledge and embrace diversity to create an inclusive environment that respects and appreciates different backgrounds and perspectives
- Establish open communications with students, parents, staff, and the community
- Any other duties assigned by the Principal and/or designee
