Job summary

Brandywine Community Schools is seeking an MTSS Coordinator to support the development and implementation of a district-wide Multi-Tiered System of Supports. You will provide information, consultation and professional development activities to school site teams, ensuring MTSS components are established and maintained across the district.

You will coach district principals, monitor MTSS fidelity, analyze student needs, and link interventions while promoting social-emotional learning and equity.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education is preferred.
  • Experience with MTSS, RTI, or similar frameworks.
  • Trauma-informed practices or PBIS experience is desirable.
  • LETRS training preferred or willingness to enroll.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in development and implementation of MTSS district-wide.
  • Provide information, consultation and PD to site teams.
  • Coach district principals to support MTSS and district initiatives.
  • Monitor fidelity and MTSS implementation at building level.
  • Analyze student needs and link to interventions for struggling students.
  • Support social-emotional learning and whole-child initiatives.

Position Announcement
SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction and Programs, assist in the development and implementation of a consistent Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS). The MTSS Coordinator will provide information, consultation and professional development activities to school site teams, ensuring that MTSS components are established and maintained in the district. Provide coaching to the district principals in order to support MTSS and various district initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and DUTIES

Additional duties may be assigned.

  • Provide consultation and support to administrators, teachers, and school-based leadership teams to facilitate the implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) at the building level
  • Facilitates student assistance teams, instructional leadership teams and district committees for various MTSS initiatives
  • Monitor the fidelity and implementation of MTSS at the building level, using equity based approaches to behavioral interventions and connections to academic outcomes
  • Assist in the analysis of student needs, and linking those needs to appropriate interventions for struggling students
  • Implement a proactive approach to meeting the needs of the whole child, with an emphasis on the social and emotional learning of all students
  • Engage in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of student achievement data to monitor school-level performance and provide appropriate support services and interventions to address achievement issues and performance gaps
  • Work with administration to develop and implement school activities that connect school and community
  • Work cooperatively with teachers and other professional support staff to develop and support restorative practices
  • Collaborate with cross-departmental instructional support and student services teams to implement district-wide universal screening for academics, social-emotional learning, and behavior
  • Share resources such as research-based instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement and school climate
REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES
Education
  • Master’s degree in education - preferred focus of curriculum and instruction or special education
  • Experience with trauma-informed teaching practices and/or PBIS
  • Familiarity with MTSS, RTI, or other tiered intervention frameworks
  • LETRS training preferred or willingness to enroll
Professional Competencies
  • Ability to support instructional planning
  • Ability to coach staff and consult with building principals
  • Ability to assist with the organization and implementation of professional development supporting the MTSS process
Other Skills and Abilities
  • Must be able to transport between school buildings, districts and cities. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
