Job summary

Allegan Public Schools is seeking an MTSS Coordinator at Allegan High School to support the district’s MTSS model, coordinate procedures, trainings, and data-driven interventions. You will collaborate with the building implementation team, develop resources, and monitor progress to ensure timely supports for students.

You will work with the Counseling/SEL team to align behavior, academics, and attendance, provide staff professional development, and communicate with families to sustain a system

Job description

SUMMARY

As the MTSS Coordinator, you will support the effective implementation of the district’s multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) model and vision. The MTSS Coordinator will assist in all MTSS procedures within the building, including communicating with the building implementation team, developing training for school staff and teachers, providing resources in the area of MTSS, guiding school-based processes, and monitoring data.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

MTSS Framework Implementation

  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and support staff to implement and maintain the district-wide MTSS Framework to meet the needs of all students.
  • Implement MTSS policies and procedures to ensure alignment with Allegan Public Schools’ MTSS Handbook.
  • Communicate and collaborate with District MTSS Coordinator, Building Administrators, and other stakeholders as necessary for the purpose of data collection, problem resolution, family engagement opportunities, and planning/providing staff professional development.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of student specific plans and processes including MTSS and interventions.
  • Collaborate with the Counseling / SEL team to develop a comprehensive plan that considers behaviors, academics, and attendance.

Data Analysis and Assessment

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify students who may benefit from additional support and interventions.
  • Utilize academic and behavioral data to monitor building, grade, and student-level progress.
  • Examine student performance data offering recommendations for actionable steps at the classroom and building level.
  • Progress monitor interventions through data analysis.
  • Assist staff with the selection of student assessment and progress monitoring tools, and the collection of relevant student data.
  • Assist the building improvement team with school improvement goals in alignment with MTSS.
  • Work with school administrators to enter and update continuous improvement plan in MICIP.

Professional Development

  • Provide training and professional development for teachers, counselors, and support staff on MTSS principles, and culturally responsive strategies.
  • Support educators in the development and implementation of effective instructional strategies and interventions for identified students.
  • Support staff in their instructional roles by coaching and modeling the planning, execution, and evaluation of instructional strategies and materials.

Tiered Interventions

  • Collaborate with building teams to develop and implement tiered intervention plans for all students.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of interventions and adjust strategies as needed.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Foster positive relationships with families and caregivers keeping them informed and involved in the MTSS process.
  • Collaborate with community agencies to provide additional support and resources.
  • Build and maintain positive, cooperative, and mutually supportive relationships with all stakeholders including, but not limited to instructional staff, students, parents and families, district representatives.
  • Accurately complete time and effort logs, documenting daily activities, and noting specific activities and students being supported.
  • Perform other tasks as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor that are allowable under grant funded guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master’s Degree in Education, Psychology, School Social Work, or related field.
  • Prior experience working with MTSS or a similar framework in an educational setting.
  • Strong data analysis and assessment skills.
  • Working knowledge of best practice strategies.
  • Ability to make research based recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate professional development.
  • Ability to interact with administration, faculty, students and the community in a positive manner.
  • Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate or equivalent, preferred.
  • Training in a variety of behavioral modification techniques (PBIS, Restorative Practices, Trauma Informed Practices, etc.), preferred.
  • School Leadership experience, preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently walking and standing. In addition, the employee may frequently bend or twist at the neck and back while performing the duties of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and close vision such as to read typewritten material. The employee may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds such as student equipment.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Position is 199 work day calendar / 8 hours per day as established by the Superintendent and the Board of Education.

SALARY

Wages commensurate with experience level. Health insurance, retirement, paid sick time benefits based on Central Office Schedule.
