Job summary

SUNSHINE ENTERPRISE USA LLC is seeking an ASL interpreter to provide real-time sign language interpretation for deaf and hard-of-hearing students in grades 3-12 on a substitute/contract basis. You will support access to classroom instruction and school activities while adhering to district procedures and confidentiality standards.

The role requires state qualifications for educational interpreting, prior K-12 experience preferred, and successful completion of FBI and state background checks

Qualifications

• Meets state requirements for educational interpreting (state certification or screening).
• Experience in K-12 or educational settings preferred.
• Background checks required prior to placement (FBI fingerprint and state).
• No felony or disqualifying conviction per district policy.
• Reliable transportation and ability to report to assigned schools.
• Licenses/certifications must be current; self-report any lapse.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate, real-time ASL interpretation during classroom instruction and school activities.
• Accept assignments only through the district process; no self-scheduling.
• Be punctual and prepared; understand subject matter and student communication needs.
• Maintain professional conduct with students in grades 3-12 and FERPA confidentiality.
• Coordinate with teachers to support student access to instruction.
• Document services (dates, times, locations, hours) for invoicing.
• Notify scheduling coordinator of any inability to fulfill an assignment.
• District may replace interpreter for a given assignment as needed.
