Job summary

Point Quest Group is hiring an American Sign Language Interpreter to support deaf and hard of hearing students in a K-12 school setting in Springfield, IL. You will provide sign language interpreting and access services in classrooms and small groups, enabling full curriculum access.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED, or CHSPE certificate.
• Certification: RID or Cued Speech TEC Unit, ACCI Level 4+, ESSES Level 4+, or EIPA Level 4+.
• Skills: Fluency in written and spoken English; knowledge of core subject areas; knowledge of child development.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Interpreting & Communication Access: Interpret for deaf and hard of hearing students in classrooms and small groups, matching language to the student’s level.
• Preparation & Collaboration: Review upcoming subject matter with teachers to ensure access to instruction.
• IEP Participation: Participate on the IEP team when appropriate and share observations.
• Instructional Support: Support classroom and small-group activities and assist with assignments as needed.
• Documentation & Confidentiality: Maintain records and uphold confidentiality and school expectations.
