Job summary

Westover School in Middlebury, CT invites applications for the JV Squash Coach position for the 2026–2027 winter season, running from late November through early March. The coach will plan practices, provide technical instruction, and foster a positive team environment for JV squash.

The role requires experience coaching squash at high school/club/collegiate levels, strong communication, and the ability to work afternoons 3–5 days per week with matches on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Previous squash coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level.
• Knowledge of squash fundamentals, technical skill development, and game strategy.
• Ability to support and motivate student-athletes in a positive and inclusive environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work afternoons, with practices generally 3–5 days per week and matches typically on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Ability and willingness to obtain a Connecticut driver’s license endorsement to transport student-athletes is a plus.
• Successful completion of a background check and reference review.

• Collaborate with the Athletic Director and squash coaching staff regarding schedules, team logistics, transportation, and program needs.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with student-athletes, families, faculty, staff, and other coaches.
• Ensure compliance with all school, league, and safety requirements.
• Travel with the team to away matches and events as required.

Job Summary:

The JV Squash Coach will provide instruction, supervision, and support for Westover’s JV squash program, creating a positive environment where student-athletes can develop their skills, confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The coach will work collaboratively with the Athletics Department and other squash coaching staff to provide a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate experience for student-athletes.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Knowledge of squash fundamentals, technical skill development, game strategy, and practice planning.
• Ability to support and motivate student-athletes in a positive and inclusive environment.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work afternoons, with practices generally 3–5 days per week and matches typically scheduled on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons.
• CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
• Ability and willingness to obtain a Connecticut “A” endorsement on driver’s license to transport student-athletes is a plus.
• Successful completion of a background check and reference review.
