Job summary

DeWitt Public Schools seeks a Girls Junior Varsity Competitive Cheer Coach to lead student-athletes toward development and improvement through practice and events. You will serve as a key role model for staff, parents, and students while fostering leadership qualities among teammates.

The role emphasizes safety, strength and conditioning knowledge, and effective communication. Seasonal assignment with DEA Contract – Schedule B applies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of coaching cheer and gymnastics required or helpful.
• Cheer experience at varsity/junior varsity level preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old and a high school graduate.

Responsibilities

• Direct student athletes at practice and during transportation.
• Model coaching behavior for staff, parents, community, and students.
• Promote leadership qualities and continuous improvement throughout the season.

Job description

Summary of Duties

The Girls Junior Varsity Competitive Cheer Coach is responsible for maintaining a focus on the team’s development and continuous improvement throughout the season, by directing student athletes at practice, during transportation, and at other schools or other locations. The cheer coach is a primary role model of coaching for our staff, parents, community, and students and promotes and projects leadership qualities for all student-athletes.

Reports to

High School Athletic Director and Varsity Competitive Cheer Coach

Follows sports program as set by varsity coach

Qualifications/Requirements

• Knowledge of coaching cheer
• Cheer experience required
• Knowledge of gymnastics
• Must be at least 18 years of age and a High School graduate
• Two (2) or more years of varsity coaching experience preferred
• Knowledge of strength and conditioning
• Quality communication skills
• Basic knowledge of first aid
