Job summary

Sylvania High School is seeking an Assistant Cheer Coach to support the Head Cheer Coach in developing and supervising the cheer program for student-athletes. You will help provide instruction, promote teamwork and sportsmanship, and ensure student safety and well-being.

The role involves planning practices, teaching routines, supervising students during events, and assisting with choreography and equipment. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Qualifications

• Previous cheerleading or coaching experience preferred.
• Ability to work effectively with high school students.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Must be dependable and available for practices, games, competitions, and other scheduled activities, including evenings and weekends.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting practices, performances, and competitions.
• Teach and reinforce proper cheerleading techniques, skills, routines, and safety procedures.
• Supervise and support student-athletes during practices, games, competitions, and other team activities.
• Assist with choreography, conditioning, and preparation for athletic events.
• Promote positive behavior, teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and academic responsibility.
• Assist with equipment, uniforms, travel, and other program-related needs.
• Follow all district, school, athletic department, and NMAA policies and procedures.
• Maintain appropriate communication with students, parents/guardians, coaches, and school staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Cheer Coach or Athletic Director.
