Central Library in Indianapolis is seeking a Public Services Librarian with a juvenile focus to join our Fort Benjamin Harrison Branch. The role requires a MLS, Indiana librarian certification or eligibility, and strong patron services experience.

Qualifications

• Have a Master's degree in Library Science.
• Indiana State Librarian Certificate 3 – Professional Assistant, or be qualified to receive it soon after hire.
• Have intermediate level computer skills.
• Have juvenile library reference and/or customer service experience (preferred).
• Have the ability to work nights and weekends as scheduled.
• Be bilingual (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provides in-depth research and recommendation of resources and materials to patrons.
• Makes recommendations and provides instruction in using online catalogs and resources.
• Evaluates materials and creates displays to promote library resources.
• Develops plans for services and programs for the community served; schedules and delivers programming.
• Initiates partnerships for community outreach programs and events.
• Promotes library use through displays, presentations, and public activities.
• Assists patrons with job searches, resumes, and access to legal forms and government sites.
• Assists in data collection on library use and services; informs patrons of library policies.
• Stays current on resources and software; processes circulation and holds.
• Provides training to staff on resources and their use.
