Black Caucus of the American Library Association seeks a Public Services Librarian with a juvenile focus to join our Fort Benjamin Harrison Branch team. The role requires a Master’s in Library Science and Indiana Librarian certification or eligibility after hire, with strong computer skills and experience in juvenile reference and customer service.

The position is full-time, typically 40 hours per week, with a schedule including days, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Master’s in Library Science required
• Indiana Librarian Certificate 3 or eligible after hire
• Strong computer skills expected
• Experience with juvenile reference and customer service preferred

Responsabilités

• Provide in-depth research and recommendations to patrons including resources and materials
• Assist patrons with online catalog, databases, and computer use
• Develop plans for community programs and evaluate outcomes
• Initiate partnerships for outreach programs and events
• Promote library services through displays, presentations, and community events
• Assist patrons with job searches, resumes, and access to forms/websites
• Collect and analyze data on library use and trends
• Explain library policies and supervise patron behavior
• Stay current on resources and tech tools used by the library
• Assist with circulation, holds, and library cards processes
• Train staff on resources and usage as needed
