Job summary

Department of Juvenile Justice in Georgia seeks a Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist II to support rehabilitation plans and supervise offenders under probation or parole. The role involves interviews, assessments, court testimony, and coordination of treatment services.

You will administer tests, maintain case files, and guide offenders on release conditions while coordinating with service providers and court personnel to ensure compliance.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and two (2) years of job-related experience in a social services delivery setting; or four (4) years of direct case management job-related experience working with offenders and their families in a social services delivery setting; or two (2) years of experience at the lower level Juv. Probation/Parole Spec 1 (SSP130) or position equivalent; two (2) years of experience at the lower level Juv. Probation/Parole Spec 1 (PSP240) or position equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Interview probationers and parolees regularly to evaluate progress and maintain probation terms.
• Recommend remedial action or initiate court action for non-compliance with probation or parole terms.
• Administer drug and alcohol tests to verify compliance with treatment programs.
• Prepare and maintain case folders for assigned inmates or offenders.
• Discuss with offenders factors like substance abuse and anger management that influence behavior.
• Conduct pre-hearing and pre-screening investigations and testify in court regarding offenders' backgrounds.
• Inform offenders of conditional release requirements (visits, restitution, employment).
• Write reports describing offenders' progress and evaluations.
• Counsel clients with substance abuse issues and arrange treatment services.
• Supervise community-based sentences and provide field supervision (curfew checks, visits).
