Job summary

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice seeks a Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist II for Forsyth CSO in Cumming, GA. The role focuses on rehabilitating youth on probation or in custody and coordinating services to support successful reintegration.

Under general supervision, you will interview offenders, develop rehabilitation plans, administer tests, and testify as needed. POST certification within six months is required; an associate degree with related experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in a related field and two years of job-related experience in a social services setting.
• Or four years of direct case management experience working with offenders and their families.
• Must possess and maintain Georgia POST certification within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Interview probationers and parolees regularly to evaluate progress and ensure compliance with probation terms.
• Recommend remedial action or initiate court action for non-compliance with probation or parole terms.
• Administer drug and alcohol tests, including random screens, to verify treatment compliance.
• Prepare and maintain case folders for each offender and document progress.
• Testify in court regarding offenders' backgrounds and sentencing considerations.
• Counsel clients with substance abuse issues and arrange for appropriate treatment services.
• Supervise community-based sentences and conduct field checks of curfew, work, or school.
