Job summary

Gregg County is seeking a Juvenile Supervision Officer to oversee temporarily detained youths in a secure facility. The role requires certification eligibility, 21+ age, and a willingness to gain additional training. You will write behavioral notes, incident reports and disciplinary plans, and you must be physically capable of handling center contingencies.

Evening and weekend shifts are included. The position emphasizes creating a safe, therapeutic environment for youths while supervising

Qualifications

• Must be able to obtain certification as a Juvenile Supervision Officer.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Willing to pursue additional training, skills and experience.
• Ability to write accurate behavioral notes, incident reports and disciplinary plans for supervising juveniles in the facility.
• Physically capable of handling contingencies in the detention center.
• Available to work 10-6, 6-2, 2-10 shifts including weekends.
• Must possess good moral character.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children ages 10 to 16 temporarily detained in the facility.
• Provide a safe and therapeutic environment for detained juveniles.
• Monitor all activities to ensure safety of the children.
• Coordinate and supervise building cleaning to maintain cleanliness.
• Arrange, monitor, and supervise group activities.
• Provide effective crisis counseling.
• Carry out any other duties assigned by supervisor or Chief Juvenile Probation Officer.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Possess ability to be certified as a Juvenile Supervision Officer.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Be willing to obtain additional training, skills, and experience.
• Possess the ability to write accurate behavioral notes, incident reports, and disciplinary plans on supervising juveniles temporarily residing in the facility.
• Be physically able to handle contingencies that arise in the detention center.
• Be available to work hours assigned based on the needs of the Department. This includes 10-6, 6-2 and 2-10 shift and weekends.
• Be of good moral character.

EXAMPLES OF JOB DUTIES

• Supervise children, ages 10 through 16, temporarily detained in the detention center and act as lead officer when required.
• Provide a safe and therapeutic environment for juveniles temporarily residing in the facility.
• Monitor all activities to ensure the safety of the children.
• Coordinate and supervise building clean-up to constantly maintain building cleanliness.
• Required to arrange, monitor, and supervise group activities.
• Provide effective crisis counseling.
• Any other duties that may be assigned by supervisor or the Chief Juvenile Probation Officer.

SALARY RANGE

$15.00 HOURLY
