Job summary

The Louisiana Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) is seeking reliable, safety-conscious individuals to join the food service team at Swanson Center for Youth in Monroe, LA. The Corrections Juvenile Food Production Worker will help prepare and serve meals and supervise youth engaged in kitchen and cleaning activities.

Minimum qualifications include one year of food service experience in a institutional setting or traineeship; candidates must pass drug screening, background checks, and a valid

Qualifications

• One year of food service experience or training in an institutional, hospital, military, or commercial food service operation; OR twelve semester hours in food and nutrition, dietetics, or institutional management.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and serve meals in accordance with facility menus and dietary guidelines
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, dining, and storage areas
• Supervise youth assigned to food service duties, ensuring safety and compliance
• Operate kitchen equipment and follow institutional food safety protocols
• Assist with inventory, storage, and portion control
• Uphold confidentiality, mandatory reporting, and trauma-informed care standards
• Participate in PREA training and other required onboarding programs
