Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Department of Human Services North Central Secure Treatment Unit seeks a Juvenile Justice Specialist to supervise residents, guide behavior, and promote safety in a secure setting.

You will provide daily supervision, contraband searches, and clear written updates. The role operates in a 24/7 environment with 8-hour shifts and a starting salary of $57,772. Free parking is provided, and telework is not available.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience in care, custody, activities, or guidance of adolescents or adults in a human services or related setting.
• Completion of the Juvenile Justice Specialist Trainee program or equivalent.
• Associate’s degree in social sciences, counseling, juvenile justice, or related field.
• Equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants may be within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

Responsibilities

• Resident supervision to maintain safety.
• Contraband searches to identify and remove prohibited items.
• Daily guidance in hygiene, work tasks, recreation, and treatment activities.
• Behavior support through modeling positive conduct.
• Communication duties via written and verbal reports.
• Emergency response to maintain order and reduce risks.
