Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in Luzerne County is seeking a Juvenile Justice Specialist Supervisor to lead the North East Secure Treatment Unit team and guide residents toward positive growth. You will promote safety, structure, and responsible decision-making in a secure youth treatment setting, shaping daily routines and therapeutic activities.

This full-time role requires supervising staff, implementing treatment plans, ensuring policy compliance, and coordinating therapeutic programming

Qualifications

• Three years of experience in the care, custody, activities, or personal guidance of adolescents or adults in a human services or social services program, law enforcement or correctional program, or an educational, community, or military organization; or
• One year of experience as a Juvenile Justice Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
• One year of experience in the care, custody, activities, or personal guidance of adolescents or adults in a human services or social services program, law enforcement or correctional program, or an educational, community, or military organization; and an associate's degree in social sciences, counseling, restorative justice, juvenile justice, child development, behavioral sciences, human services, criminal justice, education, or a closely related field; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Responsibilities

• Safety Oversight: Monitor residents and staff to ensure a secure environment and prevent harmful behavior
• Daily Instruction: Guide residents through routines, treatment activities and personal responsibility tasks
• Behavior Support: Document progress and encourage residents through structured programming and case plans
• Employee Leadership: Train, observe and evaluate staff to strengthen performance and improve care practices
• Policy Compliance: Apply agency procedures, manage grievances and support disciplinary actions when required
• Activity Coordination: Assign staff to lead therapeutic and recreational programming for consistent resident care

Education

Associate's degree in social sciences or related field
