Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 year degree from an accredited college, with major course of study in criminal justice, human services or related field.
  • Completed a minimum of 40 hours of training; however, the 40 hours of training may be completed within one year following appointment to the Probation and Court Services Department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, guidance, care and secure custody consistent with Departmental policy and procedure.
  • Incorporate Evidence-Based Practices with regard to interactions with detainees.
  • Maintain direct involvement with youth by being present on the detention floor.
  • Make complete, accurate written entries in all records, reports and logs.
  • Assist in the creation, design and implementation of programs aimed at promoting positive change for youth.
