Job summary

The 1 Hinds County Board of Supervisors is seeking an entry-level Detention Officer to maintain the safety and supervision of detainees. Responsibilities include processing youth at the Juvenile Justice Center, transporting detainees, and performing various safety and housekeeping duties.

Candidates should have an associate’s degree or a high school diploma with relevant experience and hold a valid Mississippi driver’s license. This is a non-exempt and at-will position.

Qualifications

• An associate's degree in corrections or related experience preferred.
• A high school diploma with relevant experience is required.
• Valid Mississippi driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety of detainees at all times.
• Process youth entering the Juvenile Justice Center.
• Transport detainees to court and appointments.
• Serve meals and snacks to detainees.
• Perform housekeeping duties including laundry.
