Job summary

The Madison County Commission seeks a Detention Operations Specialist to monitor jail movement, operate control systems, and log activity to ensure safety for staff, visitors, and inmates.

Under limited supervision you will handle communications with deputies, coordinate inmate movements, maintain accurate records, greet the public and legal representatives, and perform clerical tasks as part of a dedicated security team.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
• Ability to operate office appliances, including computers and data entry.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and operate jail control equipment and log movement of Deputies, inmates and visitors.
• Direct inmate movement and ensure rights such as visitation and access to counsel are observed.
• Communicate with Jail Deputies via radio/intercom to support housing area duties.
• Handle inquiries and greet the public, law enforcement, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee inmate visits and coordinate inmate movement with schedules.
