Job summary

Fort Bend County in Texas is seeking a Detention Officer to provide safe, secure supervision of residents in accordance with established policies and procedures. You may transport residents to court, medical appointments and placements, conduct searches, and supervise recreation in line with approved methods.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 21+ years old, strong communication and interpersonal skills, CPR/First Aid/Handle With Care certifications, and the ability to work shifts

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of job-related experience preferred.
• CPR, First Aid, and Handle With Care certifications encouraged (certifications can be obtained after starting).
• Must be 21 years or older and eligible for certification as a Detention Officer.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License required.
• Male applicants only.

Responsibilities

• Provide care of residents in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Maintain a safe living environment for residents.
• Transport residents to court, doctors appointments and placements as needed.
• Search incoming residents for items not permitted.
• Supervise recreation of residents according to procedures.
• Restrain residents when required.
• Participate in emergency management activities during local disasters as directed.
