Job summary

The Family Court of St. Louis County is hiring for Full-Time Male and Female Detention Deputy Juvenile Officer positions in the Detention Department. These roles require gender-specific eligibility due to the resident unit.

Positions include shift options and a comprehensive benefits package; salary ranges from $23.63 to $25.99 per hour plus incentives. Responsibilities include supervision of residents, security, counseling, and program oversight.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related social/behavioral science required.
• Or four years of paraprofessional social service experience working with juvenile delinquents and/or their families may be substituted in lieu of college.

Responsibilities

• Supervise juveniles assigned to residential Detention units or at the control desk.
• Maintain security and control and provide direct supervision to residents.
• Develop, implement and oversee Detention programs and activities as part of a behavioral model.
• Build team approaches to resolve problems and model appropriate behavior.
• Provide informal group and individual counseling, including crisis intervention.
• Supervise shower facilities and conduct room/unit/body searches as needed.
• Physically restrain residents when appropriate.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related social/behavioral science

4 years of paraprofessional social service experience with juvenile delinquents and/or their families
