Job summary

St. Louis County Courts seeks Corrections Officers to maintain safety and order within the correctional facility. The role emphasizes leadership, communication, and professionalism, with opportunities for both new and experienced personnel.

Starting pay is $22.03 hourly ($45,822.40 annually) with a 10% differential for evening or night shifts, plus a comprehensive benefits package. Pre-employment screenings and required qualifications apply.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Clear police record with felony convictions disqualifying; misdemeanors may be approved by the Director of Justice Services.

Responsibilities

• Security management: monitor inmate activities and identify safety risks.
• Inmate supervision: lead daily routines including meals, recreation, and work assignments.
• Incident response: respond promptly to emergencies or disturbances with coordinated actions.
• Documentation: prepare reports and logs related to inmate behavior and daily operations.
• Communication: interact professionally with inmates, staff, and visitors; coach others on documentation and conversations.
• Safety protocols: model best-practice safety procedures and lead drills and daily operations.
